In Melides, visit the Cistas das Casas Velhas Necropolis, a megalithic funerary monument, the Pedra Branca Dolmen, an old burial tomb used from the late Neolithic to the Chalcolithic periods, the São Pedro Church and the Roman ruins that date back to 3500-2500 B.C. The Olaria Museum Center provides a fascinating glimpse into the region’s pottery craft, a timeless tradition that has deeply influenced the local society, culture and economy. Alcácer do Sal features the impressive Alcácer do Sal Castle, built in the 12th century, and the Senhor dos Mártires Archaeological Station, which was occupied between the 5th and 3rd centuries B.C.
